He has assisted companies including 3Com and US Robotics on business immigration matters, and has helped companies in the high-tech, electrical, mechanical, optical, solar energy, medical device, electronic circuitry, semiconductor, and software companies. In the early 2000s, as a patent attorney and patent agent, Mr. Jew spent several years handling patent applications and assisting in patent prosecution for technology juggernaut AOL.
Fluent in both English and Mandarin, Attorney Jew’s background is uniquely suited to helping high-tech companies around the Bay Area and across California with all of their business immigration and intellectual property needs. Mr. Jew was educated at top Chinese universities and holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Shandong University, and a Masters degree in Philosophy and History of Science from Renmin University of China. He is a graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law, and holds an LLM with a concentration in Intellectual Property Law.
After working for five years as a legal assistant, he began law school. Mr. Jew worked full time at the law office during the day, reading law books on the BART train from San Leandro to San Francisco, where he attended night law school classes at Golden Gate University. Even more impressively, while balancing law school and a full time job, he sat for the Patent Bar, and became a licensed Patent Agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. One of Mr. Jew’s adjunct law professors was so impressed that he hired him almost on the spot as a Patent Agent, where he worked for his remaining law school years. After admission to the California Bar, Mr. Jew founded Dahyee Law Group, now known as Leon E. Jew & Associates.
Mr. Jew is admitted to practice law in the State of California, the State of New York, and Washington District of Columbia, and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
